Los periódicos de la época hicieron de la noticia una epopeya del sensacionalismo. En el desastre murieron unas 1600 personas, pero los efectos aún se sienten: una decena de películas y series televisivas lacrimosas, cientos de libros más o menos morbosos, una industria necrofílica que comercia con relojes oxidados y fragmentos de la vajilla de tercera clase, las parejitas de Kansas, Hialeah o Buenos Aires que se retratan en la proa de los barcos de la línea de cruceros Carnival, todo tipo de obras "artísticas" de insuperable ridiculez, los turistas ricos dispuestos a pagar millonadas por ver los restos mohosos del barco en el fondo del Atlántico, un set cinematográfico tan grande que parecía un país, un director de cine con ego napoleónico gritando que es el rey del mundo...
Sin embargo, ese mismo día, el 15 de abril de 1912, ocurrió otro desastre que ningún periódico anunció, y que a la larga haría parecer lo del Titanic como un pequeño contratiempo marino: nació Kim Il Sung, el Presidente Eterno de Corea del Norte. Como el Titanic, este desatre también ha generado decenas de películas y óperas proletariamente lacrimosas, miles de libros absolutamente infumables, una industria necrofílica que comercia con estatuas gigantescas y sellitos para poner en la solapa, todo tipo de obras "artísticas" de insuperable ridiculez, turistas dispuestos a dejarse estafar por ver los restos mohosos de un país hundido en el fondo del estalinismo, un país tan irreal que parece un gigantesco set cinematográfico, una dinastía de dictadores ineptos y criminales con complejo de directores de cine...
La principal diferencia entre los dos desastres del 15 de abril de 1912 es que mientras el Titanic ocasionó apenas 1600 muertes, las víctimas de Kim Il Sung se cuentan por millones. Bueno, y que ninguna pose de Leonardo DiCaprio y Kate Winslet podría igualar la memez de los principitos verdugos del comunismo dinástico norcoreano.
